Thomas F. Romeyn

Thomas F. Romeyn (March 19, 1729 – October 22, 1794) was an American theologian.

Biography

He was born on March 19, 1729 in Passaic County, New Jersey.

He attended Princeton University in 1750. He studied theology under J. M. Goetchius and Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen. He started preaching on Long Island then went to Holland to be ordained on April 11, 1752. He was then ordained by the Classis of Amsterdam on September 3, 1752. He started preaching at Oyster Bay, New York on November 10, 1752. He married Margaretta Frelinghuysen, the daughter of his mentor, in Albany, New York. His son, Theodore Romeyn, was born on November 28, 1757 and his wife died a few weeks later, on December 13, 1757 most likely from complications from the childbirth.

He died on October 22, 1794.
